Do you have wired speakers connected to your Samsung smart TV? The audio quality of your old-school speakers is always poor, and you are constantly having trouble managing speaker wires. It would help if you experienced surround sound before to know how excellent audio quality can be when watching movies, shows, or music.

The best solution would be to replace your old wired speakers with a much improved wireless surround audio system. They are skilled in creating a three-dimensional sound field (Spatialization), enhancing sense of realism and immersion, reproducing clear, soft, and loud sounds, and more. So, by adding them to your existing TV-watching area or home theater system, you will enjoy optimized performance while watching stuff like movies, drama shows, or music listening on Netflix or Peacock TV.

It can be confusing to decide between surround sound systems on the market today if you aren’t well acquainted with their characteristics. Team Wooster Audio has streamlined the process of selecting a great quality Sound System that is exactly compatible with your Samsung TV so you can pair it easily. We have selected multiple surround audio systems from brands, including Polk Audio, Sonos Arc, LG, Samsung, Nakamichi, Enclave, and Bluesound, and we will soon add more systems like Samsung HW-Q910b and more.

In our lab, we rigorously tested high-quality soundbars for various specifications, including Sound quality, frequency, Wireless capabilities, Speaker drivers, Audio format support (including Dolby Atmos), and other technical aspects.

As a quick tip, I recommend you maximize your Samsung TV’s audio capabilities by purchasing a system that offers immersion (3D-like audio), spatial awareness (precise sound positioning), enhanced gaming audio cues (soundbars for Xbox Series X), superb good quality, more cinematic dialogue, and wireless convenience. Wireless Surround Sound System Recommendations For Samsung Tv Reviews

Polk Audio Signa S2 Soundbar (Image credit: Amazon)

Polk Audio Signa S2 Soundbar

Best Audio Solution For Samsung 56 inch TV

We began our list with the Polk Audio Signa S2 soundbar, an ultra-slim unit that enhances TV viewing with good sound and it has a sleek and slim low-profile design. The Signa S2 looks much better than its predecessor and easily slots into any room and home entertainment setup, opening up new possibilities for placement and decor arrangements with your SONY smart TV. This Polk Audio soundbar’s overall dimensions are just 35.43 inches wide, 2.15 inches tall, and 3.31 inches deep, making this baby a master of space optimization, and you can even wall mount it.

When you invest $300 into Polk Audio Signa S2, what quality of sound do you get? Well, while testing Signa S2 at Wooster audio lab, I paired it with a Samsung 65AU9000 smart TV and I played ‘Heart Of Stone Movie’ and observed good dialogue clarity but not better, and then I played the ‘Mourning’ song, and the sound was crystal clear. When I reviewed the specifications of the Signa S2 Soundbar, I was thrilled and found it features a Front array subwoofer driver of 5.25 inch (13.34 cm ) d round and provides Dolby Digital decoding.

Where Signa S2 lacks a dedicated center channel, and its V-shaped sound signatures need to be well-balanced. Movie lovers will find dialogue enhancement features beneficial to increase dialogue clarity, and their built-in Polk Adjust Technology installed already in voice levels. The Signa S2 soundbar features an exclusive wireless subwoofer for powerful and deep responsive bass (add richness to your audio), and this subwoofer only takes a little much space. You will be blown away by the sound you receive from Signa S2 with Dolby Digital and create incredible room-filling surround sound.

Any Samsung Smart TV can be configured with the Polk Audio Signa S2 and you can also take advantage of Signa S2’s built-in Bluetooth technology and connect wireless devices, including Smartphones and Tablets, for music streaming directly. For fast connection, this Polk Audio soundbar features various connecting options, including HDMI ARC, optical input, and AUX (HDMI and optical cable included). You will also get an IR Remote control with Signa S2, which you can use to easily adjust the volume and change audio modes and subwoofer settings.

There are tons of valuable features in this S2 soundbar, including Polk’s patented Voice Adjust technology, which ensures that dialogues and vocals are crystal clear and crisp. Remember one thing: if you push limits, then as a result, you may hear distorted and compressed loud sounds, and we can expect that as it falls within budget.

Interestingly, Polk Audio Signa S2 has universal compatibility, so it is compatible with most Samsung TVs, including older models. This Signa S2 soundbar can be used with even Samsung QLED TVs as these are Samsung’s high-end TVs including Q90T, Q80T, and QN90A, and all have HDMI ARC ports.

A Samsung Crystal UHD TV, such as the TU8000, TU9000, or TU7000, or an exclusive Samsung model, such as Samsung The Frame, can be paired with the Signa S2 using the HDMI ARC port option.

Sonos Arc Soundbar (Image credit: Amazon)

Sonos Arc Soundbar

Best Value

The second one is the Sonos Arc Soundbar for your Samsung TV, but it is costly compared to Polk Audio Signa S2 but worth it. With its sleek and premium design, the Sonos Arc is much more appealing. Experts say Sonos Arc is the Best for Samsung’s more giant TVs (55-inch TVs) like Samsung QN55S90CAFXZA. If your Sideboard doesn’t have an enormous sideboard then still due to its compact size, it will easily fit on it due to its compact size and not only, that you can wall mount the Sonos Arc soundbar by using a bespoke Sonos wall mount (sold separately but budget-friendly).

As the Sonos Arc soundbar is on the expensive side, you will get more premium features, including built-in voice assistant capabilities (Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant) for hand-free control by Sitting On Sofa. Surround format support for Sonos Arc includes Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby True HD, Dolby Digital+, Dolby Digital, and DTS, making your movie-watching experience more greater with added surround sound so you can enjoy dialogue-centric TV shows perfectly. The good thing is that the Sonos Arc bar features the best center channel design and provides you with a dialogue enhancement tool used for improving vocal reproduction and several dialogue enhancements.

As Sonos Arc lacks Bluetooth functionality, it is only possible to stream music audio over Wi-Fi or Apple AirPlay 2. The Sonos Arc only features common connectivity options, including HDMI ARC/eARC eARC, optical, and ethernet for easy connection. Alternatively, you can use your smartphone to control the Sonos Arc soundbar with the Sonos S2 app. So overall, the Sonos Arc is the best option.

Generally, the Sonos Arc soundbar is compatible with most Samsung televisions including QLED TVs and 2022, 2023 and 2024 Samsung TV models and has improved compatibility mainly regarding HDMI eARC and audio formats so grab now.

LG SL5Y 2.1 Channel Sound Bar (Image credit: Amazon)

LG SL5Y 2.1 Channel Sound Bar

Best High Resolution Bar

After Sonos Arc Soundbar, here comes LG SL5Y, which provides good surround sound as well. While testing LG SL5Y in the lab, I played Kaavaalaa songs first on a 32-inch Samsung LED TV. The sound was reasonable compared to TV speakers, and not only for Samsung; this LG SL5Y bar is good for even LG TVs.

The LG SL5Y 2.1 is capable of providing surround sound of 2.1ch DTS Virtual:X and features APT (audio processing technology to play 24-bit/96kHz audio. So this LG soundbar shows you excellent capability of playing and reproducing audio with a wider range of frequencies, which is much better and beneficial than the standard 16-bit/44.1kHz SAF (Standard Audio Format).

The LG SL5Y 2.1 can handle 400W power, which is a good level, so even in large rooms, you can enjoy good sound quality and clarity. The SL5Y features a compact design and plastic construction, giving this LG soundbar a stylish appearance. It weighs just 2.35 kg and boasts rounded corners and a perforated front, while the top features a slightly textured finish, with the LG logo in the upper right corner. You can place SL5Y below any smart TV because it’s perforated on the front and textured on the top. With the availability of Dynamic range controls, you will be able to control sound waves more effectively.

The LG SL5Y 2.1 is equipped with TV remote control capability and features Bluetooth 4.2 for seamless wireless connectivity. With the Over-the-air (FOTA) firmware updates, the LG soundbar ensures that it stays up to date. The major feature is support for high-resolution music files, which delivers a premium audio experience.

You can get an LG SL5Y budget range soundbar in three conditions:

  • Soundbar with 220W subwoofer.
  • Soundbar with black Bluetooth speaker.
  • Soundbar with white Bluetooth speaker.

The LG SL5Y 2.1 supports a bunch of audio formats, including LPCM, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital, DTS Digital Surround, DTS Virtual X, FLAC (Up to 192kHz) C4A / USB, OGG (Up to 48kHz) C4A / USB, WAV, MP3 and WMA so all these formats are available for superior sound quality. On LG SL5Y 2.1, you will find multiple connectivity options, including HDMI 1.4 Out USB, but sadly, there is no Multi-Room Mode available, so you cannot play music on multiple speakers and soundbars. But overall, at a budget price of under $150, it is a valuable option. The LG SL5Y is good to go with Newer Samsung TVs (2022 & later), QLED and UHD TVs.

Samsung HW-Q70T 3.1.2ch Soundbar (Image credit: Amazon)

Samsung HW-Q70T 3.1.2ch Soundbar

Best Mid-Range

My next recommendation is the Samsung HW-Q70T, which is a 3.1.2-channel soundbar option. The HW-Q70T is part of Samsung’s 2020 lineup and offers you a compelling audio experience. The HW-Q70T features 3D surround sound, supported by Dolby Atmos and DTS:X dual technology, and creates an immersive atmosphere.

The Samsung HW-Q70T is a well-built soundbar with two up-firing speakers, ensuring superb build quality. It’s a perfect match for QLED TVs and most 55-inch screens, boasting a convenient remote central unit. You will find a 4-character display behind the grill of HW-Q70T for providing volume and input level information.

On the HW-Q70T panel’s top, you will find some controlling options, including the Power button, Volume rocker, and Input selection buttons, which you can utilize to set up sound as you desire. The coming subwoofer with HW-Q70T provides you with good bass quality as it features a built-in amplifier.

After testing HW-Q70T in Wooster Audio lab, I found that the soundbar shows many similarities with the Samsung HW-Q70R soundbar, but the sound quality is not much better than HW-Q70R provides, and the Rear speakers are not much better. So overall, the Samsung HW-Q70T is designed by Samsung to complement their TVs and is engineered to work flawlessly with Samsung-manufactured TVs. Here are Soundbars For LG TVs, including OLED CX TVs.

JBL Bar 9.1 Soundbar (Image credit: Amazon)

JBL Bar 9.1 Soundbar

Best For 3D Surround Sound

I have reviewed and recommended another soundbar after Samsung HW-Q70T, which is the JBL Bar 9.1 soundbar, specially designed for an immersive surround sound experience. With the 9.1 bar by JBL, you get two wireless surround speakers as well as a wireless subwoofer and inside the box you will get included things like power cords, an HDMI cable, and two L-shaped and U-shaped wall-mount brackets for the easiest installation.

One standout feature of JBL Bar 9.1 is the ability to detach the satellites, enhancing sound quality in large or crowded rooms. You can also wirelessly connect this JBL Bar 9.1 for easy streaming of audiobooks and podcasts, making it versatile for various entertainment options. You can utilize Wi-Fi, Chromecast built-in, Apple AirPlay, and Bluetooth, where sadly, JBL Bar 9.1 does not support built-in Spotify Connect integration. The JBL Bar 9.1 has an impressive 5.1.4 setup; it’s ideal for home theaters.

The JBL Bar 9.1 excels in delivering dialogue clarity which is due to its neutral sound profile and room correction feature. The JBL Bar 9.1 is specifically designed for Atmos content; the satellites contribute to a fantastic audio experience. You can easily play stereo files using its front and top speakers and easily handle formats like Dolby Digital.

Notably, on JBL Bar 9.1, there are no protective grill covers on the speaker and subwoofer. As compared to HW-Q70T, the JBL Bar 9.1 soundbar also features automatic updates, ensuring it stays current with the latest improvements. With plenty of wireless connectivity options, JBL Bar 9.1 is perfect for hosting house parties and enjoying high-quality audio.

So overall, the JBL Bar 9.1 (Great for Mix use) can easily be used for a large room or crowded room due to the neutral sound profile (good for dialogue charity of movies and shows). The included 10-inch powered subwoofer of 300W with JBL 9.1 is excellent for bass quality and also allows you to adjust the subwoofer level. As compared to Signa S2, Sonos Arc and LG SL5Y this JBL 9.1 bar also shows excellent compatibility with most Samsung TV models (QLED and others) and with the help of the JBL app you can easily manage the soundbar’s EQ and settings as you like.

Bluesound PULSE system soundbar (Image credit: Amazon)

Bluesound PULSE system soundbar

Good Wireless Multi-Room Smart Soundbar

For the Samsung LED TVs, Bluesound PULSE is the next recommendation after JBL Bar 9.1. Due to its special ARM Cortex A53 quad-core chip, the Bluesound Soundbar makes the sound travel eight times faster than usual, giving you a sense of mini-home theater right in your living room. The design of the Bluesound soundbar is much premium, but it is 14cm higher, which makes it Taller than other soundbars and when I placed it near a Samsung TV, due to height the part of the screen blocked, but it depends upon which Tv model you have. On the front of the Bluesound bar, there is a tight aluminum grille and a Center strip on the front face, which you can use for volume and power control.

The coming tweeter of 25mm and, midrange drivers of 5 cm, and woofers of 10 cm with Bluesound bar to with better performance. You can also Wall mount the Bluesound bar with included brackets. Featuring passive radiators under a slim body design, this soundbar by Bluesound looks great.

You can easily connect this Bluesound soundbar with your any Samsung smart TV by using HDMI eARC, Optical, and ethernet ports, whereas for other devices, there are 3.5mm analog, USB A, and RCA output available (For external subwoofer). However, the Bluesound soundbar does not automatically detect an eARC signal, so experts recommend using the BluOS app for this purpose.

So for streaming lovers, the Bluesound PULSE soundbar features better streaming functionalities, including Spotify Connect, AirPlay 2, Tidal Connect and Roon Ready. While watching movies on Samsung TV, you can voice control the Bluesound bar by using its built- in Amazon Alexa Skills and Google Assistant. The Bluesound PULSE bar features a bunch of Audio Formats, including FLAC, MQA, WAV, AIFF, Dolby Atmos, and Dolby Digital, so no worries, you can easily play every hi-res audio file format. Your loved ones in other rooms also enjoy sound waves if you use its Wireless Multi-room Audio feature.

So overall, the Bluesound PULSE is the most recommended Wireless surround sound system for your Samsung TV and gives you a high-resolution audio experience while playing movies, games, and music.

Enclave CineHome PRO Soundbar (Image credit: Amazon)

Enclave CineHome PRO Soundbar

Best Rated

After Bluesound PULSE, here is Enclave CineHome PRO, which is the most expensive option on our list. While testing Enclave CineHome PRO in the lab, I found that it features five mid-size towers with built-in class D amps that are easily placeable in your selected location. The Enclave features a sleek metal grates design with a hefty-feeling plastic enclosure and supports wireless protocol designed by WiSA Wireless Speaker and Audio Association) standard. If your Samsung TV does not support built-in WiSA support, then you can use the included tiny powered HDMI hub, which makes setup easier.

The Enclave CineHome PRO soundbar includes 6 full-range drivers and three tweeters for superior sounding. Both front and rear speakers are tall. There is a 10-inch subwoofer available with a huge size (14.4 x 11.8 x 18.8-inch) and beautiful V-shaped grill covering, and after design, it also generates more bass.

Includes 6 speakers:

  • 5.3 x 24.1 x 3.4-inch center unit
  • Two 5.3 x 3.4 x 24.1 inch front speakers
  • Two 5.3 x 3.4 x 16.4 inch rear speakers

A wide variety of HDMI, optical digital, and 3.5mm connections are available on the Enclave CineHome PRO for easy connection, and not only that, there is an Enclave Remote app available. While using the remote control, I don’t know why some buttons look different like I found two other HDMI 2 and HDMI 3 buttons, but I only found a Single HDMI port on the soundbar, so what are the two other buttons for? I am confused. And If we compare the Enclave Remote app with the Sonos app, then the Sonos application performs well.

On the expensive side, the Enclave CineHome PRO is not the best but is a better option and features some surround sound modes like Dolby Pro Logic Movie/music for a good sound experience.

Nakamichi Shockwave Ultra 9.2.4 eARC SSE Max (Image credit: Amazon)

Nakamichi Shockwave Ultra 9.2.4 eARC SSE Max

Best Expensive Option

After Enclave CineHome PRO, Nakamichi Shockwave Ultra 9.2.4 is like the superhero of soundbars, offering the best in surround sound. It’s a perfect match for your fancy 4K or 8K Mini LEDs, QLEDs, OLEDs, or HDTVs. This beast packs six custom-designed speakers, including those twin-cone drivers and silk dome tweeters, which means you’ll be blown away by the crisp and powerful sound it produces.

But wait, there’s more! Not one, but two 10” wireless subwoofers come with it, and they’re supercharged with high-output amplifiers. You’ll literally feel the bass since it’s deep and immersive. A total of four 2-way modular surround speakers provide surround sound in stereo, 5.1 channel, Dolby Atmos, or DTS: X. Oh, and don’t forget the Nakamichi exclusive Spatial Surround Elevation (SSE) MAX technology – You can’t have an excellent performance without it.

You’ll have no problem controlling this Nakamichi soundbar with the user-friendly 2nd Generation backlit remote. Despite low-light conditions, it is easy to operate thanks to its large, color-coded buttons. Also, Nakamichi’s Soundbar includes a separate 9.2 channel amp that supports HDMI eARC and has three HDMI inputs so that you can connect all your devices.

Quick Buying Tips

You can use this guide to choose a wireless surround system that will bring the audio from movies, television, and drama to life.

Audio Quality and Compatibility

Enjoy rich, vivid sound. Choose systems that include modern audio technologies such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X which produce a three-dimensional audio experience. These advanced technologies bounce sound off walls and ceilings for a totally immersive experience that puts you in the center of the action.

Number of Channels

Choose a system with 5.1 or more channels for creating the best surround sound setup. More channels can help you in precise audio placement, enhancing the overall immersion. A 5.1.2 system consists of five channels, one subwoofer, and two overhead channels to provide a more realistic and immersive soundscape.

Wireless Connectivity

Ensure that the sound equipment and your Samsung TV are both Wirelessly connected. WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC features allow for simple pairing and streaming from various devices. Choose systems that offer several wireless protocols, assuring device interoperability and eliminating audio lag for an uninterrupted watching experience.

Subwoofer Quality

A good subwoofer is essential for producing deep, impacting bass. Look for systems that include dedicated wireless subwoofers to correctly recreate low-frequency effects and add intensity to your audio. Look for adjustable settings that allow you to tailor the output of the subwoofer to your preferences and the acoustics of the room.

Easy Setup and Installation

Look for systems with simple setup procedures. Wireless solutions reduce the need for significant wire, making installation easier and providing a clean, clutter-free environment. Some systems provide guided on-screen setup instructions, smartphone apps for simple configuration, and color-coded connectors to make the procedure easier.

Smart Features and Connectivity

Select systems that have intelligent capabilities such as voice control and interoperability with virtual assistants. Integration with the Samsung SmartThings ecosystem can improve ease and connectivity. You can use voice commands to operate your sound system, connect it to other smart devices, and even build custom audio presets for certain sorts of material.

Room Size and Acoustics

When choosing a system, consider the size and arrangement of your room. Some systems have calibration tools that adjust audio output to the acoustics of the environment, assuring optimal sound delivery.  Acoustic calibration can optimize audio quality by fine-tuning system settings depending on room dimensions, furniture arrangement, and wall materials.

How We Tested

In Wooster Audio’s lab, we tested all these surround sound systems by connecting one by one with the Samsung TVs we have. We test Audio Source Calibration of soundbars to ensure that content is being played consistently, so to test different aspects, high-quality audio files were used with a high range of dynamics and frequencies. We adjust soundbars and subwoofers to different positions for proper sound. We tested the soundbar’s wireless range after connecting it to a Tv for proper compatibility and reliability. We tested and Assessed soundbar audio quality for clarity, tonal balance, frequency response, and dynamic range. On Samsung Smart TV, we played gaming or watching content to measure audio-to-video latency to check audio and video synchronization correctly.
